The Brief

Senja Teduh Pelita is an original science-fiction musical by Jakarta Movin in collaboration with MALIQ & D’Essentials, featuring adaptations of the band’s discography. The production ran 3–12 July 2026 at Graha Bhakti Budaya, Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta.

The story follows five children left behind by adults who went to save a world broken by climate change, war, and failed development… and didn’t come back. Courage, science fiction, and self-reflection: three things the identity had to hold without flattening any of them.

The Work

The color system came directly from the source material. MALIQ & D’Essentials’ original song describes langit biru jadi jingga—blue sky turning orange. Blue and orange became the production’s palette as an act of fidelity to the song the whole production is built from.

The visual world was anchored in brutalist architecture. A civilization that built ambitiously and collapsed under its own decisions. Against that: five children. Arah the Navigator, Kala the Historian, Volta the Mechanic, Langit the Star Reader, and Hara the Florist. Each a different kind of intelligence the broken world needs. They are the identity’s primary visual language.

Typographic Decisions

Mid-century meets science fiction. A purely futurist typeface would have lost the warmth the production needed for children and families. A purely mid-century face would have read nostalgic in a story set in a broken future. The resolution: bold, rounded, structured. Friendly but serious. Accessible but not soft.

The System in Use

16 shows. The identity ran across every surface—entrance gate and dual signage panels, directory and wayfinding, parking guides and information boards, wristbands, banners, photo walls, digital ticketing platform, and the Spotify album cover. The system was built once and held everywhere.

25 seats went unsold across the entire run.
