The Brief
Jakarta Movin commissioned a visual identity for a musical theatrical IP built around the songs and lyrics of Indonesian artist Tulus, Interaksi. The production needed its own world that distinct enough to stand alone while coherent enough to stay in conversation with Tulus’s visual language, which is modern and restrained.
The thematic brief: hope, journey and transformation, meeting and separation.
The Work
The central concept was connection.
The logo makes it structural. The threads in the mark trace the letters of INTERAKSI one by one. Connection is not illustrated by the mark; it is the mark. No other visual language could trace that chain without introducing something extraneous, and a straight, clean thread stays in register with Tulus’ own minimalist branding.
Each of the four characters is represented by an illustration. Their relationship mirrors the logic of dominoes: each connected to the next, each intersection a point of meeting or separation. Together, the four form a complete picture. Apart, each holds its own.
The color system is drawn directly from Tulus’ album ‘Manusia’. The album is the source material the theatrical production is built from, and its palette carries the emotional register of that body of work into the physical world of the production.
Typographic Decisions
The illustration and color carry the weight. The type holds the system together from the side. Quiet type next to bold illustration is a decision about where the eye goes first.
The System in Use
Across big banners, photo backdrops, and t-shirts, the domino form holds—the four illustrations placed together make connection visible at the size an audience walks past. At closer range, the same logic carries through lanyards, ID cards, and a booklet. On small banners, a single character is enough. The signage system extends it into navigation. Every surface is a different scale of the same decision.
